Chapter Twelve
Raymond actually walked through the door at a reasonable time. Theresa was beyond shocked with this anomaly. She looked up at the clock, and it was only eight in the evening. Wow! What brought him home so early? Theresa couldnât believe her eyes. This was good because she hadnât told him about the situation with Tawanna yet, and she needed to fill him in about the new ideas for the visitation arrangements. Theresa gave him a few minutes to get himself acclimated to their humble abode. Plus, she needed to get a feel for him and what was going on. This eveningâs visit home was quite surprising and unusual for someone who worked two full time jobs. Something was going on, a change that he had not let her in on yet.
âHello,â said Theresa.
âHello,â said Raymond, placing his briefcase down on the kitchen chair. Theresa never quite understood the need for that briefcase, but every time she saw it, she thought about the condoms she found in it one day and the one-hundred-dollar bill that she kept because he asked her for one hundred dollars, promised to pay her back, but he didnât, so when she found the money that was his pay back.
âHi Autumn,â said Raymond when he noticed her on the couch. She was quiet, minding her own business. Autumn is such a respectable young lady, thought Raymond. She never gave him any trouble when she was around, but her presence irritated him just a little because he wanted his own children to be around their home too. But it could never happen frequently dealing with Cassandra, who always wanted to fight and remind him how he never married her and raised their kids together like he had promised her he would do.
âHello,â responded Autumn. The atmosphere was calm and quiet, but Autumn knew that it was time for her to exit.
âWell, I am going to go back to my room now,â said Autumn.
âSee you later,â said Theresa.
âGoodnight,â said Raymond.
âGoodnight.â
âHi. This is perfect timing because I wanted to talk to you about what happened a couple of days ago,â said Theresa.
âOh, what happened?â asked Raymond.
âWell, Tawanna pushed Autumn the other day when she was visiting with her dad,â said Theresa.
âWhat?â asked Raymond with surprise. He was actually not in a hurry to run away from Theresa tonight, and this concerned him to hear this news. He did not hate his family even though his abandonment suggested that he did.
âYes. It was really stupid. And she had no reason to put her hands on Autumn. Anyway, I called the police and that has kind of ruined the relationship over there,â said Theresa. Raymond kept a mental note of this. If she would call the police over there, she would call the police over here too. I am going to be careful with her.
âYeah. I can imagine. I bet Tony is not happy with you right now,â said Raymond.
âRight. I see you understand, which brings me to my main point.
